Hello, dear reader or writer! Newsflash is the ultimate blog system, dedicated to providing information about BCA events and happenings around our school.
To uphold the morals of our school, there are a few key things to keep in mind when writing:
Articles cannot contain profanity, demeaning or violent speech of any kind.
Be prepared to work with other organizations outside of the Newsletter, this includes but is not limited to Student Government, and other school clubs.
All of those whom you interview or work with are treated with respect regardless of personal feelings.
Fun and humor are encouraged with blog posts but please keep the articles themselves professional. Humor pieces and opinion pieces are published in a separate section. :)
Any posts created by a writer must be previewed by an editor before publishing. Once previewed, editors will send you feedback on your article if there is something to adapt or improve on. Teachers will review the finished product and articles will then be published weekly. Writers will receive deadlines for their pieces and be responsible for submitting those to an editor on time. Interviews will be incorporated into your writing so as a journalist, be prepared to question people as well as to submit interviews to an editor or write them into your article. Some people may be assigned to taking pictures of an event or getting them from another school source.
This newspaper is relatively new so these guidelines are subject to change. What we will always strive for, though, is to cultivate a positive image of our school through student compassion, personality, journalistic integrity, and a heart for words and writing.
