Smash Bros Tournament

Are you looking for a mascara that works for you?

If you said yes to any of these questions, then that is irrelevant because the topic of this article is the Smash Bros tournament. Using roughly 6 Switches, we all beat the crap out of each other in peace and friendship. Coupled with the fact that there was food and that $140 was raised for the school, the event was a success.

The competition worked through a bracket system, with winners fighting winners until the final two- Hayden and Tyler- fought to the death, leaving Hayden victorious. Due to his immense generosity and overwhelming kindness, (definitely not bribed to say that)  he donated his prize money to the school fundraiser, doubling the total amount earned. Outside of the competition, those who lost competed in smaller brackets and others just played Smash Bros and Mario Kart for fun on other Switches.

The overall feeling was laid-back and welcoming despite technically being a competitive event. In the (slightly altered for simplicity) words of Collette, “It’s really a vibe, ya know? I’ve killed myself a lot, but this is still great.” This view seemed to be held by the other students as well, though several parents remarked that they felt “old” watching us.

No summary of this event would be complete without mentioning the excessive number of Kirbys used. For some reason, at least 50% of the battles included at least one Kirby, generally more. Whether because it was cute or because they all belonged to some kind of Kirby cult, it led to some interesting battles and numerous complaints from Mr. Barros, Tyler, and various other old people

Lastly, a quick shoutout to the Student Council and specifically Hayden for coming up with this idea, planning everything, and making it happen. We all had a fun time and are looking forward to other fundraising events in the near future.
